The development

Blackbird Yard is a proposed development of 75 apartments in Parrs Wood, Didsbury. The building will be a seven-storey, L-shaped structure.

On the ground floor will be a large community space open o residents and the local community.

The site sits in the largely residential area of Parrs Wood and is a 2 min walk from East Didsbury train station.

The area

Didsbury is Manchester’s most affluent suburb. Didsbury’s 48% rate of full-time employment compares with 33% in Manchester and 41% across the whole of England. According to the census in 2001, the main industries of employment in Didsbury were property and business services, education, health and social work, retail and wholesale and manufacturing.

Blackbird Yard is located on a currently under-utilised section of the Parrs Wood Tesco carpark.

The site has a wide range of public transport services within easy walking distance, including bus, Metrolink and rail. A range of local amenities are all within easy reach on foot or by bike, including retail, leisure, education and health facilities.
