Work can now begin to regenerate the brownfield site, which forms part of the Temple Quarter regeneration area, which aims to create a ‘flourishing new urban quarter for Bristol.’ The development will also deliver 773 m² of flexible ground floor space for commercial uses alongside 43 affordable homes. The plans include a new cycle lane which will complete a key missing link in the existing cycle network.

All the apartments will benefit from high quality shared amenities, including social and workspaces, a resident gym, and a 24/7 reception and outside spaces including extensive roof terraces.

Dandara Living will make significant investment in landscaping, including new trees, sensory planting and natural play areas, resulting in a biodiversity net gain of more than 5,000 percent.

We are grateful to the Officers at BCC who recognised the necessity of this and recommended the scheme for approval and to the Committee Members who approved it.

Rachel Allwood - Planning Director, Dandara Living

Rachel Allwood, Planning Director, Dandara Living said:

“Nearly two years ago, we submitted our planning application having asked the community what they thought about our proposals. Eight out of ten people said they agreed the site should be redeveloped for housing, and seven out of ten felt our proposal would improve the area for pedestrians, cyclists & residents.

“Since then, we’ve spent this time collaboratively working through the proposals with the council’s officers, Historic England, the Environment Agency, the Health & Safety Executive and many other experts and stakeholders.

“It’s been a challenging process to ensure a viable development, but the result is an outstanding scheme that will transform this underused, brownfield site into a vibrant, attractive, safe, green and inclusive place where new and existing residents feel safe and welcome.

“We are grateful to the Officers at BCC who recognised the necessity of this and recommended the scheme for approval and to the Committee Members who approved it.”
