Here at Dandara Living, we recognise the achievements of all our colleagues throughout the year however International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to go one step further.
With this year’s theme being ‘Inspiring Inclusion’, we spoke with three of our colleagues about their thoughts on this, and how they feel this relates to career opportunities and ambitions and their roles within Dandara Living.
Senior Development Manager, Zoe Sharpe, is not shy when it comes to achieving her goals. She comments: “I like challenging myself and industry norms and my favourite reaction is surprise. I have run 20 marathons and completed an Ironman; I have been a solicitor, a chartered surveyor, and a development manager, and I'm now leading the implementation of Dandara Living’s social and local value strategy across all our UK projects.
“Dandara Living has always been very supportive of my ideas and putting them into action. I truly believe that our business and industry offer something for everyone and has the ultimate power to inspire inclusion”.
Adding to this, Lesley Treacy, Head of ESG said: “It is great to recognise and celebrate International Women’s Day and in particular some of the remarkable achievements and contributions of women in our business. Through our lived and shared experiences, I hope we can inspire inclusion in all aspects of our operations.”
At our 295-apartment development, Stafford Yard in Bristol, Apprentice Diana Stan changed career to join Dandara Living and had this to say: “My one piece of advice to other women considering a role in construction is to not be afraid to speak your mind, and be confident in your decisions. Speaking from experience, I know this may be hard for a woman who is new to the industry, but your confidence will grow with your knowledge. Trust the process!”
Attracting more women into the industry at all levels has therefore never been more important, and as both a developer and operator of large-scale residential property, Dandara Living is committed to doing all it can to attract more women into the business and wider industry.
