Dandara Living has been granted planning permission by Glasgow City Council to develop City Wharf, a development of apartments and residential amenity, student accommodation and commercial units, located in Anderston Quay.
Situated on a derelict site overlooking the Kingston Bridge, City Wharf will feature nearly 500 one, two and three bedroom energy efficient homes for rent and 490 student bedspaces alongside units for commercial use.
Designed by architects, Manson, the ground and first floors will include associated high-quality amenities such as a cycle hub, large open plan gym, residents lounge, and co-working spaces with views onto the River Clyde.
The development will also feature a new urban park for use by residents and the wider local community. New private courtyard spaces and recreational areas will also be available to residents with extensive planting and landscaping throughout.
Rachel Allwood, Planning Director of Dandara Living said, “We’re delighted City Wharf has been given the green light. It will play a key role in the significant transformation this part of the city is undergoing and help to bring more people into the area extending the vibrancy of the Clyde waterfront.”
Firmly established in England, Build to Rent developments feature properties that are let on secure tenancies and not sold. A comparatively new concept in Scotland, residents are offered long-term security of tenure, with the flexibility of renting and access to communal onsite facilities. Well managed, they are designed to foster a sense of community.
